...where we explored Granada, by horse drawn carriage, boat and foot.

Our organized tour started off with a horse-drawn carriage ride through town. We stopped at some old fort (I wasn't paying attention to the guide) that managed to survive several burnings of the town. We had barely enough time to run up one of the five (or was it six) towers, look over the town, and oooh and aaah. Unfortunately (or not, depending) the one I picked also looked over the garbage dump.

Same as above, just through an arrow slit.

Next stop on the carriage ride was the lake front. You'll notice I have no photos of the actual lake front. It was a ghost town....really. Lots of dance halls, amusement park-type stuff, all beat, run down, deserted and obviously not used in a loooong time. On the bright side, there was a nice flower.

The flower was next to a neat tree.

The tree was nowhere near here, but.... On the lake we took three boats and wandered around looking at islands.....

.....houses on the islands.....

....monkeys on the islands....

....monkeys that should have stayed on the island.....
(I suppose the real caption should be "Nancy Randell attempts to make peace with a looting monkey." but where's the story in that?)

...monkeys that should have stayed on the island, and should have found loot on the other boat, and still didn't find any loot on my boat...

After we got rid of the monkeys (they figured out we had no loot) we stopped at a, umm, place on the lake and got something to drink. There were birds there. This one was missing a tail. Notice the lack of feathers hanging below the stick?

Island or not, you gotta have electricity!

Our boat tour is just about done, we're heading back to the mainland. Apparently, nobody wanted to buy this island, so they gave it to the birds.

After a lengthy lunch (not big, just slow), most of the gang went back for a nap or something. I wandered around town....and found a church. Another church. This is "behind the hotel, on the way to the market".

The opposite end of the corner isn't as exciting, but, hey, this is what most of the corners look like. Except they usually have cars in them.

The mandatory cross. Remember the yellow church from the last day?

Hey! We found all the cars and people! They're out shopping!

And staring at the gringo with the camera!
Shortly after this, I put the camera away and got the hell outta here.

I'll call this one "Roughin' It." This is the lobby in our hotel. A little different than outside, eh?

"Dinner." Looks like a mean sumbitch, eh? Tasted pretty good. Not so mean afterall.

"Before, During and After Dinner Beverages".
17 bottles of rum on the wall
17 bottles of rum
Open one up
Put it down here
16 bottles of rum on the wall...(repeat 16 more times)

Amazingly, the picture isn't spinning! I must have been stabilized by all those damn kids hanging off us.
