2010-07-08 -- Hong Kong

A solid day of nothing. We wanted to do some museums, but everything was closed on Thursday. We ended up at the pool (after I went shopping for a new suit; apparently I left mine in Siem Reap becuase it sure isn't in Hong Kong). The pool at the Peninsula is unique. It's on the 7th floor (maybe 8th), just a wide open gap in the building. Giant pillars appear to be holding up the rest of the hotel. In reality, I'm guessing the pool is only a small portion of this floor.

Dinner was on our own (again) but we met up with Thierry and Anais and went to an Italian restaurant nearby.

The camera didn't really make it out today, so only one photo, and that one isn't that great. It tries to show how vertically oriented Hong Kong is. Most stores are hiding inside large buildings -- everything is a mall. One interesting (typical?) layout has the escalator in the middle of the building, kind of like stack of donuts. But that has nothing to do with this picture; I just liked that I could see the street.
