2010-07-07 -- Hong Kong

My cold or whatever didn't go away, and got slightly worse this morning. During breakfast I realized I wasn't paying attention to anything, and maybe had a slight fever, so I bailed on the half-group excursion to Macau and rested. In the afternoon, I walked down to Apliu street for a bit of gadget browsing (and ended up getting an iCom IC-R20, a pair of Sennheiser headphones (HD 457), and an Ainol AV8000HDW personal media player).

The walk might have helped, no more sore throat, and no fever!

Dinner was on our own and we went to a nearby Outback Steakhouse; quick(ish), good(ish) and we knew what we were getting (being an onion to start, then a rack of ribs for Dad and a tiny steak and half rack of ribs for me).

Crazy bamboo scaffolding around a sign hanging over a busy, busy street in Hong Kong. An even crazier man on the scaffolding.

.Typical(ish) Hong Kong street corner. I walked from the Peninsula up to Apliu street, about 4 kilometers. endpicture .picture="IMG_0197.JPG" Near Apliu street, a shiny glass building. I liked the colors.

Used camera lenses on Apliu street. All sorts of obsolete mounts. Absolutely nothing I was even slightly tempted to get, just a pile of old lenses. Nothing particularily wide or far or bizarre.

Used power tools on Apliu street. The guy attached to the legs in the lower right corner was waving me off, mumbling something. He wasn't very forceful, like brushing a fly away. Apliu street gets a lot of photographers. This guy in particular must get a lot of photographers.

Back to the Hong Kong skyline. This from the hotel room during the nightly Symphony of Lights (official site). After it finished, we looked it up the web and found out that the audio program is broadcast on 103.4 FM.
