2010-06-30 -- Bali

Due to the late arrival last night, we never heard what the tour today was. Heck, I don't even remember if I heard what time the tour was at -- and I certainly don't remember it now (ten days later). Had I heard, I might have skipped it: an hour long van ride to....shopping, essentially. We stopped at a shop that makes fabrics and a shop that carves wood. In between, we stopped at a temple. After the wood carving, the group split; some went for more shopping, one went to the volcano, but most of us stopped at a market "on the way" back to the resort. Overall though, just far, far too much driving.

This lady was putting dabs of waxy ink on a piece of fabric. I watched her do this, she motioned my arm over and started dabbing on a flower. Dad got his shirt done next. We heard something about washing in hot water to remove the wax and ink, and cold water to preserve it. Time will tell, eh?

Pr Puseh Pr Desa, Desa Adat Batuan, Isaka 944. If that doesn't mean much to you, then this page won't help much either. Anyway, we wandered around in this temple for a bit.

The sun was not cooperating with us though.

I don't really know (or don't remember) what these flowers are, but we've seen them all over recently.

At the wood carving shop, amazing detail. This is a close up view of a four foot by one and a half foot panel of wood, about six inches deep. Layer upon layer of detail.

A man with a chicken in a cage. One piece of wood.

I liked the colors of the crackers on the bottom, but just couldn't make this work. The multi-colored ones in the lower left are rice chips, and the orange ones in the middle right are (likely) BBQ potato chips.

Dinner, at Four Seasons Jimbaran. This is one of the four (!!) monster prawns that Renee got. She shared two with Giulliame and me.
