2010-06-08 -- Luxor to Sharm El Sheik

An early start to beat the heat, then a quick flight to Sharm El Sheik for a couple of days of absolutely nothing. OK, nothing today, but tomorrow some some scuba diving (not me), some snorkeling (me), a camel ride then tea then a sunset safari.

Today, was just flying and nothing, so really no pictures. After checking in, we lounged by the pool, did a little swimming, and generally recovered from a week in the Egyptian oven (even though we're still in Egypt).

Route: HELX -> SID ASRAB -> R650 SHM -> HESH

The airport was a bit of a mess. We were so sick of the heat, and the heat on the ramp specifically, that we showed little discipline in getting from the planes to the hotel. The non-pilots and all the luggage went in two of the three cars, leaving four men (and some bags we didn't know about) for the last car. (The pilots stayed behind to fuel the planes.) This created two problems. First, it was a LOT of bags for three women and a guy, and second, four men (plus driver) in a single car is a bit tight. Oh well, maybe we'll learn. Maybe not.

HA-MBG, a great old Hungary Air Antonov AN-2R. Some other pictures at planepictures.net and airliners.net (the same picture, actually).

They're all bad pictures. We were taxiing out, and I shot blind through the rear windows on the other side of the plane.

Off the coast of Sharm El Sheik.

A gigantic water park in Sharm El Sheik. We didn't stay or even visit here.

Lunch at the Four Seasons in Sharm El Sheik, chicken and lamb shwarma. The chicken was definitely better.

Dinner at the Four Seasons in Sharm El Sheik....see, I told you we did nothing today! Oh, this is a caesar salad.

I got a "granny apple, crisp endive, blue cheese and walnut salad with grapeseed vinaigrette". Delicious.

The main was a tenderloin from Australia. The other choice was from the States, but they were out. I don't really like this picture; I think the angle is too high.
