2009-05-29 -- Santorini

Ah, a free day, almost. It's tough work, this travelling. Its fun, yes, but its exhausting. Wake up early(-ish) every day, maybe have a leisurely breakfast, maybe wolf down anything. Start touring at 9 or 10am, 3 or 4 or 5 hours. Back to the hotel for maybe a quick swim. Meet for drinks, or write up incoherrent blog entries, or plan for the next flight, or figure out why a camera isn't working, or download pictures/videos, or charge any of the eleven batteries, or send email to let family know we're still alive, or....then, maybe take a shower before dinner, then take a bus/taxi to dinner, then wait for the order to be taken, then wait for the food to arrive, then wait some more, and some more, another taxi/bus back to the hotel...then, finally, maybe, go to bed.

See? It's exhausting. You got tired just reading that, though the incoherrence probably helped.

Ah, yes. Back to today. A free day. Nothing at all to do, just relaxing by the pool, sipping tasty unhealthy drinks, maybe writing this, stitching panoramics together, playing on the iPad. Just doing nothing in a wonderful spot. Somewhere near west of Foinikia, east of Ia, on the north end of Santorini. With all greek names, that, sorry, I'm not going to try to figure out.

That was the plan, until Dad stopped by...bored. We wandered through the town -- all the way to the end -- and made it back just in time to catch a van for a 3pm dinner cruise on the catamaran Atlantis. Dinner (greek salad (surprise!), grilled shrimp and mussels, grilled chicken, fresh fruit for dessert) with sunset.
