2010-05-26 -- Ibiza to Malta

Another flying day. Since we end up burning the whole day anyway, we decided to get a late start....which was nice in that we could sleep in and not rushrushrush to get to the airport....but also left us rather dehydrated and hungry when we finally did get to the hotel at 4pm.

The pilots stayed at the airport to fuel the planes -- the fuel trucks arrived just as we left. No customs/immigration since we were already in the EU. I'm guessing the first time we really have to do customs/immigration we're gonna be annoyed. Ma and I grabbed a quick bite too-much, and I dozed off for a bit.

Dinner was at the hotel, a buffet, which I mostly skipped. In other words, no pictures of food today (except for a tomato and goat cheese baguette).

Up until today, we've always had a fourth person on board, and I've been sitting in the back. Good for napping, good for writing these pages, good for scenery photos, but boring and I get no photos of avionics.

A note (rant) about cameras. I bought a Flip MinoHD to use in the plane and while wandering around. It was working great right after I got it, but decided to brick itself the night before the trip. I managed to reset it, but it again bricked itself on the second day of the trip, and has been there since. I was excited about it; it was the perfect size for use in a cockpit, I could point it backwards through the window during take offs, and fit easily in a pocket for wandering around. I'm EXTREMELY PISSED OFF at Flip right now.

The route from Ibiza to Malta was....long: LEIB -> SURIB -> SADAF -> ALR -> BNA -> BJA -> JIL -> ANB -> MORJA -> LABIP -> BARIM -> KEMIR -> TUC -> SONAK -> DOBIX -> ASDAX -> GZO -> LMML. At least, they told us "as filed" and we didn't have to copy that bad boy down over the radio.

Our nice long flight plan. The flight was a little over two hours, and ATC let us skip the knee in the route.

As usual, they waited until the last second to drop us down. 3000 feet per minute down, which is 34 MPH.
